Burnout recovery for the quietly running on empty.
Strategic, multi-modal recovery for high-functioning burnout — the kind that doesn’t look like burnout from the outside. Two or three sessions. In Cabinteely, Dublin 18 — or online, anywhere in Ireland.

The shape high-functioning burnout takes — when things still look fine from the outside.
Most burnout doesn’t arrive with collapse. It arrives slowly, disguised as resilience, until one day you realise you’ve been running on empty for a very long time.
- Still functioning at work, but depleted underneath
- Switching off feels impossible — even on weekends
- A creeping cynicism about work that used to matter
- Sleep is broken, shallow, or unrestorative
- Small things feel disproportionate
- Lost meaning in things that used to bring you alive
- A persistent feeling of running on empty
- Quietly convinced rest alone won’t actually fix it
Burnout isn’t a sign you need a holiday. It’s a sign your nervous system has been carrying more than it can hold — for longer than it should have.
Three things I do differently from “you just need rest”.
Time off helps. But the patterns that produced burnout usually need addressing too — otherwise the same depletion comes back when life picks up again.
Recovery without quitting
You don’t need to leave your job to recover. We work with where you actually are. Most clients keep working through the process.
Root cause, not just rest
The over-giving, the can’t-switch-off, the “if I stop everything falls apart” — those patterns have origins. We find them, and we resolve them.
Two or three sessions
Long enough to restore the nervous system, embed the change, and check it’s holding. Never more than you actually need.
Six trained modalities — combined per client, never used the same way twice.
For burnout work, somatic healing and EFT usually carry significant weight — burnout lives in the body before the mind catches up. The exact blend depends on what your system responds to.
What burnout recovery actually feels like from the inside.
Not the manic, adrenalised kind. The sustainable kind. The kind that doesn’t crash on a Friday.
Actually switching off. Not “trying to relax while still mentally drafting Monday”.
The things that used to matter start mattering again. The work, the people, the small daily pleasures.
Falling asleep more easily. Staying asleep. Dreams returning. Waking restored.
The disproportionate reactions ease. The threshold rises. Capacity returns.
You can do the work without running on adrenaline. Sometimes that means staying. Sometimes that means leaving — from a regulated place, not a desperate one.
How a first burnout session works.
Free 20-min call
A calm phone conversation. We talk through what’s going on and whether working together feels right.
Your first session
90 minutes in Cabinteely or online. Built for you in the first 15 minutes, then we go to work.
Two or three sessions
Most burnout resolves in 2–3 — long enough to restore the system and root the change in.
Week-later check-in
I text every client a week after our work to see how it’s settled.
I’d convinced myself I just needed a holiday. After two sessions I realised I’d been running on adrenaline for nearly a decade. The change has been quiet, steady, and real.
Honest answers about burnout work.

How do I know if it’s burnout and not just being tired?+
Tiredness lifts with rest. Burnout doesn’t — that’s the diagnostic distinction. If a long weekend or a week off doesn’t materially shift the depletion, if cynicism is creeping in where there used to be care, if switching off feels impossible — that’s usually burnout, not tiredness.
Can hypnotherapy help if I can’t take time off work?+
Yes — most of my burnout clients keep working through the process. Sessions are 90 minutes and we do 2–3 spaced a week or two apart. The recovery happens between sessions, not by you stepping out of your life. That said, we’ll talk honestly about what your situation actually needs.
How long does burnout recovery take?+
Most clients see significant shift in 2–3 sessions. Severe or long-running burnout — particularly with layers of trauma underneath — may take longer. Energy and the ability to switch off usually return first, often within the first session. The deeper patterns settle in over the following weeks.
Is burnout the same as depression?+
They overlap but aren’t the same. Burnout is a nervous system state of chronic over-activation followed by depletion. Depression is its own clinical condition. Some people have both. I’ll be honest with you about what I’m seeing, and if I think you should also speak to your GP, I’ll say so.
Will I have to change jobs?+
No — and most clients don’t. What changes is your relationship to work, the internal patterns that drove you to over-give, and the nervous system regulation that lets you do the work without running on adrenaline. Sometimes people do choose to change jobs afterwards — but from a regulated place, not a desperate one.
Do you work with people who are still functioning at work?+
Most of my burnout clients are still functioning — that’s the high-functioning burnout pattern. From the outside, things look fine. Underneath, you’re running on empty. That’s exactly who this work is for. You don’t have to wait until you collapse to do something about it.
