The shape low confidence usually takes — even in people who look fine on the outside.
You don’t need to tick most of these for confidence to be quietly running the show. Two or three is often enough.
- An inner critic that runs commentary on almost everything you say or do
- Confidence that’s contextual — easy in some rooms, gone in others
- Imposter syndrome that hasn’t gone away despite the track record
- Public speaking, meetings or visibility moments you quietly dread
- Comparing yourself to others as a near-constant background process
- Avoiding situations you used to handle without thinking
- Old voices from school, family or a difficult relationship still running
- Knowing rationally you’re capable — but the body and the mouth disagree
Confidence isn’t a personality trait or something some people are born with. It’s a pattern with an origin — usually installed somewhere along the way — and patterns can be re-patterned.
Three things I do differently from how confidence is usually treated.
And why most clients notice the inner critic quieten in the first session — and the wider pattern shift within two or three.
Strategic, not scripted
I assess each client and ask the leading questions that get to what’s actually driving the pattern. Your session is built for you in the first 15 minutes — never delivered from a generic confidence script.
Underneath, not on the surface
Affirmations and pep talks work at the surface. We work with what installed the pattern — the moment, the relationship, the voice that put the doubt in. That’s where the lasting change happens.
Resolved, not patched
Most clients fully resolve their confidence pattern in two or three sessions. Long enough to embed the change and check it’s holding. Never more than you need.
Six trained modalities — combined per client, never used the same way twice.
Here’s roughly how each one shows up when we’re working on confidence specifically. The exact blend depends on what installed the pattern and what your subconscious responds to.
The kind of shift people don’t think is still available to them.
The voice that used to narrate everything either softens significantly or disappears altogether. The mental real estate it was taking up frees up for actual life.
Presentations, meetings, social situations, networking — whatever you used to brace for stops requiring the same emotional run-up.
The gap between what you know rationally and what your body believes about your worth starts to close. You can take in the evidence of your own competence.
Posture, voice, eye contact, the way you walk into rooms — things you didn’t realise had collapsed start to come back without you trying.
The reflexive comparison to everyone else becomes something you notice, not something you live in. Your own measure replaces theirs.
Not a performance version. Not a version trying to be confident. The version that was always there underneath the patterns running on top.

What does confidence hypnotherapy actually look like?+
We work with the patterns underneath confidence — the inner critic, the old voices, the imprints from school or family that still drive how you show up. Using clinical hypnotherapy alongside NLP, CBT, EMDR and EFT, we re-pattern the subconscious self-image. The result is steadier, quieter confidence — not performance confidence that has to be summoned.
I’ve tried affirmations and they didn’t work. Why is this different?+
Affirmations work at the conscious level — repeating something the subconscious doesn’t yet believe. The inner critic usually shrugs them off. Strategic hypnotherapy works at the level where the limiting beliefs were actually installed. We don’t talk the subconscious into believing something new; we re-pattern the imprint it’s running on.
Will it stick, or just work in the room?+
When we resolve the underlying pattern rather than coach around it, the change tends to hold. You also leave with practical tools — language patterns, EFT sequences, somatic cues — that you can use in the moments confidence used to wobble. I text every client a week after our first session to check how it’s settled.
How quickly will I notice a difference?+
Most clients notice something shift in the first 48 hours — a quieter inner critic, an easier breath in a situation that used to tighten them up, a meeting handled differently. By session two or three, the change is usually embedded enough to be your new normal. Long enough to do the work properly, never more than you need.
Does this work for imposter syndrome?+
Yes — imposter syndrome is one of the most common reasons clients arrive. There’s almost always an origin event or relationship pattern underneath it. We work with what installed the pattern, not just the surface response. People often describe the result as “feeling like myself in the room” for the first time in years.
Does hypnotherapy work for everyone?+
It works for anyone who is genuinely ready and willing to change. The technique opens the door — your willingness walks you through it. If you’re not yet ready, no modality (mine or anyone else’s) is going to make the change happen for you. Most people who book a free call already know they want something to shift.
