The signs hypnobirthing might be the right preparation.
You don’t need every box ticked. If one or two of these feel like you, this work is probably worth a 20-minute call.
- Anxious about birth — or about birth coming around again
- A previous difficult or traumatic birth still lingering
- You’d like fewer medications, or fewer than last time
- Curious about hypnobirthing but don’t want a generic class
- Carrying medical anxiety (needles, hospitals, examinations)
- Planning a home birth, water birth, or unmedicated birth
- Planning a caesarean and want to prepare calmly
Hypnobirthing isn’t about pretending birth doesn’t hurt. It’s about meeting it with a regulated nervous system, a prepared mind, and a clear preparation plan you trust.
Three things that make this different from a hypnobirthing class.
Group classes give you the framework. 1:1 work gives you the actual preparation — built for your birth, not a generic one.
1:1, not classroom
Every session is built around your specific birth — your body, your fears, your previous experiences, your context. Never a generic delivery.
Partner included
The focus is on equipping you with the tools, techniques and audio recordings you’ll carry into labour — practical preparation built around your body and your birth, not a theory class.
Strategic, not scripted
Hypnobirthing is the framework. The actual sessions draw on six trained modalities — whatever your nervous system responds to.
Six trained modalities — combined per client, never used the same way twice.
For birth preparation specifically, hypnotherapy and somatic work usually lead — but EMDR is often central when previous birth trauma is in the picture.
The kind of birth experience this work actually creates.
Not bracing for the day. The third trimester stops being a countdown to fear.
With tools that work in real time. A regulated nervous system. A felt sense that you can do this.
You leave with a recorded birth audio you can play between sessions and during labour itself. Check-ins available as you approach your birth.
Needles, examinations, hospital environments — they stop activating the way they used to.
Not always — but often. The aim is choices made from regulation, not from fear or panic.
A nervous system that wasn’t flooded during birth recovers more quickly afterwards. Less to process, less to repair.

I provide birth audio recordings to use between sessions and during labour. Check-ins available as you approach the birth.

When should I start hypnobirthing?+
Earlier is better, but it’s rarely too late. Many clients start in the second trimester — that gives time for the nervous system patterns to settle in before labour. I’ve also worked with clients in the final weeks, and even days before birth. We do what time allows.
Does hypnobirthing work for caesareans?+
Yes — including planned caesareans, emergency caesareans, and births that turn into caesareans unexpectedly. The nervous system regulation work, the body-based release, and the calm framework all transfer. We’ll prepare you for the birth you’re planning and the birth you might end up having.
Can my partner be involved?+
My current practice space is small — so hypnobirthing sessions are run 1:1 with the mum directly. The work focuses on equipping you with the tools, techniques and audio recordings you’ll use during labour. Many clients share what they learn with their partner between sessions.
Is this a class or 1:1?+
1:1, bespoke. Not a generic class. Every session is built around your specific situation — your body, your context, your previous births if any, your fears, your hopes. That’s why it works where group classes sometimes don’t.
Will I be “out of it” during birth?+
No — that’s a common misconception. Hypnobirthing puts you in a deeply relaxed, fully aware, fully present state. You’re not unconscious. You’re not floppy. You’re in your body, regulated, and able to respond to what’s happening. Most clients describe it as the most present they’ve ever felt.
Can hypnobirthing reduce pain medication?+
Many clients find they need less medication than expected — sometimes none, sometimes some, occasionally all of it. We don’t aim for a particular outcome. The aim is a nervous system regulated enough that you can make choices in the moment, rather than being driven by fear or pain alone.
